Chai Hebrew is an innovative afterschool program where Judaism comes alive in a fun and engaging educational setting. We have created a space where a diverse community of Jewish children experience the joy of Jewish holidays, gain an appreciation for their heritage and develop fluency in Hebrew.
Chai Hebrew is an afterschool program in the heart of Park Slope, servicing the broad and diverse Jewish community in Brooklyn. We have reinvented the traditional Hebrew School experience to create a space where children love to come and explore their Jewish heritage.
The Chai Hebrew environment is open and non-judgemental; we welcome Jewish families from all backgrounds and no affiliation is necessary. We acknowledge and respect the diversity of our children while emphasizing Jewish values of family, community, caring, joy, tradition and rituals. We believe that more important than what children learn is how they learn it. Our goal is to cultivate our students to love being Jewish, be excited to celebrate Jewish holidays and want to stay engaged with Judaism for the rest of their lives.
Our engaging and innovative Jewish heritage program, Hebrew language curriculum and festival and life cycle celebrations provide our students with an understanding of Judaism that is relevant, meaningful and alive. Using hands-on activities and real-life experiences, our students learn Jewish values, explore Jewish heritage and history and experience the joy of Jewish holidays. Our passionate and nurturing educators use modern methods - including drama, art and music - to teach our ancient traditions.
